Health Axis Pty Ltd was founded by Richard Smith, David Stanley and Dr Jack Cygler in December 1998, during the Heroin Epidemic in Victoria.  Health Axis PTY LTD was later to be called (Trading As) The Raymond Hader Clinic following the tragic death of one of its staff members Dr Raymond Hader.

The Clinic provided the first fully comprehensive Accelerated Opiate Withdrawal (A.O.D.) and aftercare program in Victoria. In January of 1999 the Clinic commenced providing Supported Accommodation options to clients. In 2003  started providing a Certificate IV in Community Service Drugs and Alcohol.

November 2003, the RHC expanded its residential services to include a therapeutic community at Coimadai called the Retreat and in 2007 became a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) in its own right training workers for its services. We are soon to provide Drink and Drug Driving Education, in partnership with the Transport Worker Union. To further its services in the same year Richard Smith started providing an exclusive rehab called the Byron Hideaway in the ByronBay area, which is an intensive one on one program with the founder.
